Amy Tjasink ( 24 ) is a local singer songwriter who over the passed few months has become a force to be reckoned with in the SA Music Scene. She has been writing songs since the age of 15, and recently took the bold step to release her debut EP entitled “ Average Jane” with her full band. Amy has been known for her local performances in and around Cape Town, but blew away her audiences upon her return from performing abroad, and came back with a new sound, a sound more true to herself.. She is a natural flirt on the stage, and engages her audience with the true stories behind all of
her songs. She blends the styles of Avril Lavigne, Taylor Swift & Jack Johnson into her own unique style, which is made unique by her sweet vocals.
Amy is currently working on the release of her first complete studio album, working on Music videos, and discussing record deals – a very exciting time in her musical career.
Amy Met her band mates whilst studying music in Cape Town, and came across her lead guitarist in a recording session at Cosher Recording Studios. Amy & Jonny ( lead guitarist) have an onstage energy that is amazing to watch, as Jonny plays amazing country styled guitar solos, while Amy flirts using her lyrics.
Amy’s best experience to date was her launch last year. The show had a turn out of over 300 people, and Amy truly got to shine and show the masses what she is capable of.
“It’s every singer/songwriter’s dream to perform their own music, and doing this for the first time showed me exactly why I love this industry” says Amy.
Amy Has achieved so much since her Debut in August last year. Throwing a massive launch caused a lot of attention to come her way, and since then, has managed to write and perform a song that made it to #2 on The Good Hope Fm Charts. The song called “ Get wild” is a collaboration with EDM Duo, “Alt Ego”, the song has since been played daily on music channel TRACE. She also headed the save the water campaign, writing and performing a song called “Drip Drop” in collaboration with Cape Argus and Acoustic Element, which reached over 150 000 views on social media, helping in creating awareness of our drought within the community.
Amy’s dream is to perform at Kirstenbosch Gardens at their Summer Concerts.
Artists she would love to perform with include Freshlyground, as well as Matthew Mole, as they were in school together, and performing together after so many years out of school would be amazing!
