CROSSCURRENT is a four man Indie/ Afro/country band playing toe-tapping, get up and move, original Cape Town music.
Having just won the Cape Town Upstaged ‘Battle of the bands’, Crosscurrent is making big waves wherever they go, moving like a rocket to the very top of the Cape Town music scene.
Lead singer David Franke will move you with his superb vocals, Paul Botes with his sweet guitar riffs. Milo Hills-Williams will amaze you with his insane yet sensitive drumming and Owen’s trumpet will stir your heartstrings and make you feel. Their incredible ability to reach deep inside their audience and take them on an epic musical journey is well worth the experience.
Influenced by Mumford and Sons, Beatenberg, Of Monsters and Men, to name a few, they have found their own, unique sound. Rooted in Africa, their songs celebrate life in all its shades. Their rhythm makes it impossible to sit still, having wowed audiences and received standing ovations. The generous response from their audience combines with their love of performing and makes for a heady mix.
Having started out, just over a year ago, creating their own sound, they have taken giant leaps in the local music industry. Winners of the first Jack Black Brewery open mic competition they have grown in stature to open for Monarch and amongst many gigs have played the Greenpop festival, headlined for the Vergenoegd ‘Youth Day Music Festival’ and now have a date with you, at the Cape Town’s Café Roux on the 30th November 2017.
