On 16 August 1977, the King of Rock ‘n Roll, Elvis Presley, passed away.  On 16 August 2018, exactly 41 years to the day, South Africa’s no. 1 Elvis Presley tribute artist, James Marais, along with Monique Cassells, will present “Elvis:  From Memphis To Las Vegas”, a tribute show celebrating all three decades of Elvis’ career, i.e. the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s.  The show is a mini-theatrical experience, featuring the dynamic vocal and visual performances of James and Monique, who also do multiple costume changes throughout.

James and Monique are a powerful duo and have performed together at many different venues and for diverse functions over the years, most notably in three of James’ productions at the Roxy Revue Bar, GrandWest Casino in Goodwood, several performances at Die Boer Theatre in Durbanville, The Barn in Mossel Bay, The Barnyard in Plettenberg Bay, Caledon Casino, Garden Route Casino in Mossel Bay, Golden Valley Casino in Worcester, Mykonos Casino in Langebaan, Villa Pascal Theatre in Durbanville, Bellville Civic Theatre and Kraaifontein Civic Hall.

James presents an accurate and respectful tribute to Elvis in his amazing vocals, which he is able to adapt to the many different genres of music the great man covered throughout his career.  James’ onstage moves give an illusion of Elvis in his prime, and his beautiful costumes do the King justice, representing Elvis during all three decades of his career.  His jumpsuits are replicas of what Elvis wore in the ‘70s.

James was named South Africa’s no. 1 Elvis Tribute Artist at the Elvis Festival Africa 2010, and travelled to Wales to represent SA in the Elvis World Cup, finishing fourth out of 12 competitors from around the globe.  As a result of this, James was featured in the 24 June 2010 edition of the Huisgenoot magazine.  He has since also featured in various newspapers including the Argus and the Cape Times.

James has appeared on the T.V. show “Noot Vir Noot”, which was first broadcast on 9 March 2012, and rebroadcast twice thereafter.  He also performed alongside the cream of South African Afrikaans entertainers at the Innibos Festival on 30 June 2012.  On 23 December 2016, James’ appearance on SABC 2’s “Musiek Roulette” was broadcast, and he was a guest on Jou Show”, Kyknet’s Afrikaans variety show hosted by Emo Adams, in 2011.

James has also been interviewed by various radio stations, including CCFM, Good Hope FM, Cape Talk and Fine Music Radio.

Monique is a very accomplished vocalist, having performed many different genres of music over the years, including rock ‘n roll, rock, pop, country, blues, ballads and even light classical.  Elvis Presley has been an all-consuming passion for her since she was 11 years old, and she performed his music in her public performance debut at the age of 17 in 1994.

Monique holds the distinction of being South Africa’s only female Elvis Tribute Artist, and participated in the Elvis Festival Africa, held in Storms River, in 2010 and 2011, both as a solo artist and alongside James Marais.

Monique has been interviewed by radio stations including SAFM, Fine Music Radio and Assembly Radio (online station).  She has also featured in various newspapers, including the Cape Times.

PLEASE NOTE: Dinner is served from 6:30/ 7pm, the show starts at 8:30pm.
