Singer songwriter Josie Field has been on the South African music scene for ten years, making her one of the hardest working independent artist in the country. Over her ten year career she has earned herself a place amongst the best. She has the voice of an angel, very distractive and strong which is emphasized though the incredible delivery of her personal songs. She grew up on her parents collection of folk and rock n roll LP’s and was especially influenced by the singer songwriters – Van Morisson, Bob Dylan, Joni Michelle, Tracy Chapman and Joan Baez. Field’s work is rooted in folk but captures elements of blues and soul, Field admits to be greatly influenced by soul music. Expect an intimate, soulful duo performance which she does with her longtime producer and guitarist Kevin Leicher.
Josie Field is about to release her much anticipated 5th solo album entitled ‘IndieSoul’. She had this to say, “Not many artists have the opportunity to keep writing, recording and releasing albums that they love, as I have done over the last ten years. I consider myself extremely lucky to be able to continue my musical journey doing what I love. IndieSoul is just another piece of my journey and I am really proud of the album. We are currently finalizing the album and will be performing the new material at my Cape shows in March 2017. This album has been in the making for quite some time and I am so excited to finally release it to the world.”
Josie Field will be moving abroad in April 2017 – this will be her last visit to cape town in the foreseeable future and a kind of farewell tour. She will also be joined on stage by Jennifer Eaves.
