LIVE MUSIC @ Cafe Roux Ndhk with LEONINE, LANKY JAKE & FOLKLORE
With the fantastic response from the last show ALAS Academy held at Cafe Roux Noordhoek in June, we have decided to bring the very coaches that make up ALAS Academy onto the intimate stage and create a night full of live music and quality entertainment from the ladies and gents that teach at ALAS Academy, Fish Hoek.
This is not an acoustic evening and it will be an open door into the lives and sound of the teachers performance persona and how they have chosen to perform as independant artists.
Leonine, locally known as Amy Leigh Vermaak is taking to the stage as LEONINE and will be performing her live electric rock and roll with a soul-full cabaret twist.
Leonine has a strong and steady beat with powerful and lyrically rich vocals. Let the beat, the story and the voice entertain you. Be transported into the modern day theatre and let your imagination run wild.
With top notch production and all round quality full rich sounds, let it penetrate the ears and invite you to the magnificent Leonine that is.
” Leonine:Resembling or suggestive of a lion, as in being powerful or dignified. Someone or something that is like a lion. ”
Supported by Kevin Grant on Drums and Geoff Hart on Synth.
Music produced by Stuart Hiyarant Vermaak and Amy Leigh Vermaak
Lanky Jake, locally known as Jaco Botha is Lanky Jake the 26 year old falsetto singing, guitar slinging musician from Cape Town, South Africa.
His love for all things guitar, fused with a modern EDM flair and catchy Pop styled vocals, gives him a unique sound that quickly becomes familiar. He writes and produces all of his own music. He has a passion for live performance and entertaining crowds.
Folklore, locally known as Marie-Claire de Villiers is FOLKLORE. The name “Folklore” represents the ecstatic celebration of human existence, the unity of people, and the sharing of stories.
Marie-Claire believes this is exactly what music is about.
Folklore is strong vocal melodies over big basslines; electronic dance styles moving into each other through symphonic sounds; drum ‘n bass, dubstep, trap, house, bass, garage and elements of rock music burn together and yield surprises.
Marie-Claire’s voice is soulful, powerful, and huge in range. She is a soul singer at heart. Uplifting and euphoric dance music with soul is her life fire.
She’s always been musically schizophrenic with a reputation for attending 4 different types of music shows a week in her student days. She’s also known for her addiction to the dancefloor.
