Lucy Kruger is a musician and songwriter.
Since the release of her debut album ‘Cut those Strings’ in 2013 she has toured extensively both locally and internationally, collaborating with a number of different artists on various projects. She is one half of dream noise duo, Medicine Boy.
Her solo project focuses on the bare bones of the songs, drawing on her folk roots.
Her performance is honest and intimate, revealing a child-like curiosity towards the darker elements of sound and subject matter.
In 2014 she put together her current band, The Lost Boys, which includes Andre Leo, Werner von Waltsleben, Lucas Swart and Calvin Siderfin.
They released a self-titled EP in 2015 in which they first started exploring the psychedelic folk/dream pop that has come to define their sound.
Summer’s Not Simple is the first full length album from Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys.
The album is a quiet conversation/conjuring expressed with a single voice and a sea of guitars.
It is a quiet call to the wild;
an attempt to keep the soft animal alive.
The sound drifts between the bareness of the acoustic guitar and the darker, psychedelic approach of the band.
The Lost Boys have been working with Lucy for a number of years and have become her sonic sub-conscious. Their instruments swell, collide and collapse around her to create the strange yet familiar landscape of the album.
Most of the songs were written in a small spare room in the summer of 2016, workshopped with the band in the autumn and recorded in the winter at Digital Forest Studios with Dave Langemann.
