cafe Roux Cape Town
Mae Sithole has graced stages from the Grahamstown National Arts Festival, Dakar – Senegal, HIFA (Zimbabwe) to Nice – France, and her home country Zimbabwe. In Cape Town, Mae has performed at the Alma Cafe, the Barleycorn Music Club, the Armchair Theatre, the Blah Blah Bar and the Alexander Bar. The launch of her new project “Visions”, produced by Andrew Baird (Orangotan Music) is moving and calls for multiple interpretations. Take your pick! The six-track project has a variety of songs, including the new single, “Jailor” (original composition by Asa; video available if you click on the link) and 5 new original compositions. Mae’s talented brother, Jonah Sithole, based in Indonesia, features on the song “Handei Kumusha”, which they composed a year ago. The song is about everything to do with going home to family and the hope that younger generations of expatriate Zimbabweans will know about the beauty of Zimbabwe. The song entitled, “House of Stone”, is a translation of the Shona word “Dzimbadzamabwe” (Zimbabwe) to English. It speaks of the hope for freedom in Africa. Mae will be accompanied by the talented Daniel Kyobe, Khwezi Ziqubu and Takie Tshikovhi. Catch them at Cafe Roux for one night only.
