At 25, Chris Werge has steadily been making his mark in the South African music scene.
After launching his debut album, ‘Exposure’ in January 2015 he went on to open for James Blunt in February at The Grand Arena, GrandWest.

With this momentum Chris began gigging throughout Cape Town leading to a second place award at a local ‘Anything Acoustic’ competition hosted by Rolling Audio at Spiro’s in Hout Bay. It was here that he was noticed by artist manager Craig Reid (Jimmy Nevis, Monark, Just Jinjer) who asked Chris to audition for The Voice South Africa later that year.

After being selected as a part of the top 105 contestants Chris was flown to Joburg to perform his Blind Audition with the song ‘Royals’ by Lorde. His performance got him a turn from Bobby Van Jaarsveld landing him a spot in Team Bobby. After being eliminated from the show Chris used the momentum and energy to record and release his first music video for his single ‘On My Mind’ which has been playlisted on radio stations across the country.

The last twelve months have seen Chris gigging full-time at venues around South Africa. Some of his highlights in 2016 have been opening for Daniel Baron & Richard Stirton at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre as well as performing at the Nu-Breed Music Festival alongside Matthew Mole, Majozi, Josh Wantie, The Johnson Twins (Al Bairre) & Sam Burger (Opposite The Other). He currently holds residency gigs at two of the top hotels in Cape Town, the One&Only & 12 Apostles, with previous residency’s at The Table Bay, The Piano Bar & The Taproom (Devil’s Peak Brewery).

South African musician Rowan Stuart has created an inimitable brand of ‘folk-meets-pop’ music, seamlessly crossing over from acoustic singer-songwriter to radio charting pop artist, while retaining his signature depth of content. Recalling Sting’s imaginative storytelling, Death Cab For Cutie’s sense of space and beauty, and John Mayer’s tight grooves, Rowan uses his notable prowess on the guitar as the foundation for his creativity.

Rowan’s career came into full swing in 2014 with the release of his acoustic album ‘Hidden Doors’. He has since toured South Africa, and opened for some of the country’s biggest acts, including The Parlotones, Prime Circle, Matthew Mole and many others. A maestro guitarist, Rowan is a brand ambassador for Cort Guitars.

His single “Silver Balloon”, released late in 2016, was play-listed on major radio stations across South Africa, including 5FM, East Coast Radio, Algoa FM, KFM, 947 and more. Independent music journalist Claire Martens wrote: “Silver Balloon juxtaposes Rowan’s earlier acoustic focus, working in a house/urban beat that provides a strong undercurrent for his signature lyrical content – storytelling at its best. This song is at once recognisable and different, indicating a fresh, new direction for the young guitar maestro. Produced by Shotgun Fakes – the husband and wife duo Stef and Pam Myburgh, previously of The Arrows – “Silver Balloon” carries with it the capacity for universal appeal. This is typical of Rowan, whose formula of both discerning, yet uplifting pop songs always hits the sweet spot.”

Rowan is currently continuing his touring schedule while preparing for the release of his next single later this year.
