Orah & The Kites are a melancholic indie/folk band based in Cape Town, South Africa.
The band started as a trio of best friends consisting of Ntokozo Mzimela (Keys, Vocals, Guitar), Teagyn Gracey (Vocals) and Jaimie De Klerk (Keys, Vocals, formed in April 2016. In 2017 the trio expanded and are now joined by Erryn Gracey (keys, vocals) and Tristan De Beer (guitar) for a fuller more ethereal sonic experience. On occasion, Orah & The Kites are joined by Christopher Hopkins of the Askaris (trumpet), Eddy Kriel of Brynn (drums) and Kieron Brown of Bam Bam Brown (bass) to complete the full band. The group has played shows in and around the city at venues such as Obviously Armchair, The Gin Bar, The Waiting Room and Muizenbergs Concerts in The Park. Orah & The Kites recently had the immense honour of playing at the Garden State music festival launch in March at Centre for The Book alongside amazing local talent as well as Kyp Malone of Tv on The Radio, Dave Depper of Death Cab for Cutie and Laura Burhenn of The Mynabirds.
