Digby

Cape Town’s much-loved inde-folk duo, Digby & the Lullaby, will be joined by Durban’s highly-acclaimed Alternative Pop artist, Rowan Stuart, when they perform a double-bill concert on Thursday the 9th of October.

Digby & the Lullaby have been charming audiences far & wide with their introspective honesty & uncomplicated melodies, & the duo’s tangible chemistry eventually swept them off their own feet & down the aisle. Rouchelle’s voice is sublime & pure, while Darren’s minimalistic guitar-playing & airy harmonies compliment his partner perfectly. Their debut album,’The Somewhere Wind’, was produced in New York by Kieran Kelly (Angus & Julia Stone, Better Than Ezra), & is being enjoyed by fans across the globe. The duo recently walked away with a Standard Bank Ovation Award at this year’s Grahamstown National Arts Festival. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtiL9-8Kh2Y)

Rowan Stuart’s audiences have seen him grow from sought-after session guitarist to exciting singer & songwriter in the last few years. He writes an original style of alternative acoustic music, incorporating elements of folk, pop & world music into a sound that is both deep & authentic. This concert is part of the nationwide promotion of his recently-released acoustic album, Hidden Doors – his fourth solo album, & the most quintessential yet. Rowan has previously toured the country as a solo artist, opened for popular acts such as Watershed, Dan Patlansky, Jeremy Loops, Matthew Mole, & The Graeme Watkins Project, & shared the stage with Nibs van der Spuy, Gangs of Ballet & Just Jinjer. Songs from his albums have received airplay on over 20 South African radio stations, including ‘Top 20’ chart success with his debut single, Late Starter.
