JEREMY OLIVIER – 17th of April (R100)
Local muso, Jeremy Olivier has a strong following around these parts. He’s a passionate performer with some great songs behind him. His hit “Serendipity” continues to get great radio play.
WENDY OLDFIELD & LIONEL BASTOS – 19th of April (R80)
Wendy is considered a bit of a SA musical icon. She’s been in the industry for 30 years, is a three-time SAMA award winner & has toured with Simply Red & Wet Wet Wet. She’s best known for her hits “Acid Rain”, “Don’t stop believing” and “Miracle”. This show will be a live DVD recording. Nice!
GERALD CLARK – 24TH of May (R100)
If you haven’t heard of Gerald Clark – well, he’s played with pretty much every top musician in SA & his name carries weight in musical circles. A bit of Blues, a bit of Afrikaans. In his words – ‘blues that makes your hair stand up”.
MR CAT & THE JACKAL – 25th of April (R100)
Mr Cat & The Jackal is a unique five-piece multi-instrumental group often described as experimental acoustic folk whilst exploring blues, tango, pirate, Balkan & Irish themes. With a circus of sounds created by foreign & handmade instruments – their live performance calls for a complete theatrical experience. We loved their Session last year! Check out this very cool music video….
COMEDY SESSION with Paul Snodgrass, Rob van Vuuren & Schalk Bezuidenhoud – 30th of April (R120)
These three talented performers will be doing a night of standup comedy. Rob is known to many as Twakkie, from Corne & Twakkie fame. The Mail & Guardian have named him a “comedic genius”. Enough said. Paul is a multi-talented stand-up comedian who’s performed all over the country & overseas. He’s the guy you generally hear on stage as MC at all the major SA music festivals. Some might remember him from eTV’s “That Sport Show” where he swam against Ryk Neethling in a pair of flippers, faced Makhaya Ntini without a bat in a hockey goal-keeper’s kit & tried to side-step Schalk burger. That says it all. And Schalk is relatively new on the comedy scene but is getting serious attention in his own right, performing at all major comedy venues & events around the country. This is not one to be missed!
NIBS VAND DER SPUY – 1st of May (R100)
Nibs’ virtuosic acoustic guitar style & mesmeric whispering voice have attracted a widespread following for its intelligent folk, with world & African overtones. Nibs has been nominated seven times between 1999 & 2010 at the SAMA’s & has toured Europe and Australia extensively. He’s collaborated & performed with many of our countries musical greats & we’re excited to be hosting him on his short tour of the Cape.
SANNIE FOX – 8th of May (R100)
Sannie Fox is the front woman of Machineri, a well-known blues-rock band. Her signature sway on stage, raw guitar-playing & almost dirty vocals command attention. A unique musical talent.
MCCREE BAND – 9th of May (R50)
You could best describe the music of McCree as solid rock, with catchy melodies & hook-laden guitar riffs. Think Prime Circle, think Just Jinger. This will be great for a Friday night out.
LUCY KRUGER – 14th of May (R80)
Growing up in a house full of instruments & inspired by the words of Joni Mitchell, Lucy began writing soulful songs showing a truly unique & honest style. Please have a listen to this talented young lady….
JESSE CLEGG – 16th of May (R120)
Jesse Clegg is a South African alternative rock artist & multi-SAMA award winner. Jesse spent the first six years of his life on tour with his father, iconic SA singer Johnny Clegg. He is currently on a 34 show tour across the US & Canada & then makes his way to Noordhoek. He had two sold out Sessions with us last year & he put on a fantastic show.
ARD MATTHEWS – 23rd of May (R130)
An evening at café Roux with Ard is always a special one. With his powerful collection of songs, amazing vocals & great charisma, he seems to hold the entire room in the cup of his hand. Have a look at his recent Kirstenbosch performance.
BARRY HILTON – 28th of May (R120)
He is otherwise known as “the cousin” & needs little introduction to any SA comedy lovers. He’s back at café Roux for another night of side-splitting comedy. Don’t miss this one….
