Loving October’s lineup – some great acts coming to our stage next month….
2 Oct – Hinds Brothers (R60)
The younger brothers of Watershed’s frontman Craig, have been making a name for themselves after making it to this years SAMa’s. They lost out to Shaun Jacobs in the Best Adult Contemporary Album category. Hailing from Durban, this folk/acoustic duo are doing a little tour of the Cape. Definitely worth a listen. 9 Oct – Digby & The Lullaby & Rowan Stuart (R100)
We’ve had the privilege of hearing D & L at café Roux a little while back & they are something special. A hauntingly beautiful vocal. (http://tinyurl.com/nhwlpco) They’ll be sharing the stage with up & coming Durban artist Rowan Stuart. His sound can be described as “acoustic alternative music, incorporating elements of folk, pop & world music, into a sound that is both deep & authentic”. (http://tinyurl.com/m2gywd4)
10 Oct – “A slightly naughty” night of Blues & Boudoir Burlesque (R80)
Think Moulin Rouge. Think theatre cabaret. Something completely different for a night out!
16 Oct – Majozi & Glen Hartman (R60)
Majozi’s name has been popping up on our musical radar for a while now. This proudly South African Durbanite’s album got to #9 on SA i-Tunes. We’ve heard such great things & are excited to hear him live. ( http://tinyurl.com/owbygu8). Joining the bill that night, is local folk/synth musician Glen Hartman. (http://tinyurl.com/lrgcgka)
17 Oct – Beatenberg (R100)
The new “it” boys on the music scene are getting lots of attention following their recent album launch. We were there. We’re now a bit obsessed. How can you not smile when you listen to this song – not surprised it went to #1 on 5fm. (http://tinyurl.com/mb4f4u4)
18 Oct – Jonathan Martin & Gerald Clarke (R100)
more show info coming soon…..
23 Oct – Farryl Purkiss (R130)
This guys past café Roux shows have all been sell-outs & we’re big fans. Love this song. (http://tinyurl.com/kxesdxf)
31 Oct – Jack Parow Halloween Party (R130)
Unfortunately, this special night with Jack Parow SOLD OUT after he announced it at his last café Roux show. Word of mouth in a couple of days & the tickets were gone. Hardly surprising – he’s one of the best we’ve seen on our little stage!
