After only a few months he opened for one of South Africa’s biggest and best selling rock bands, Prime Circle, and has since also opened the stage for various other leading artists like Arno Carstens and the Parlotones to name a few.

Reinhardt Buhr’s music is a fusion of the unpredictable rhythms of the Spanish guitar, ambient melodies of the electric guitar, ancient sounds of the didgeridoo, ethereal sounds of the electric cello, and other instruments like the Shofar, percussion & vocals. He records all these sounds live via a live looping station, until it sounds like you’re listening to a big instrumental orchestra. Tour of Ara – 34min
This 34 minute documentary follows the unique 800 kilometer Tour of Ara vintage bicycle race through South Africa’s hot semi-desert Karoo region. A group of 40 racers spend a week traversing the arid landscape along dirt roads on their old steel road bikes, and experience life-changing people, situations and some serious race challenges.
This film is directed by Rick Wall and produced by Daniel Siegler of Word.
A Frozen Road –  25min
A Ben Page film: Self-shot and edited whilst cycling around the world, this short film charts my winter journey into the Canadian Arctic as I completed my bike ride up the American continent. Compelled by Jack London’s assertion, that ‘any man who is a man can travel alone’, I sought an adventure of perfect solitude. The Frozen Road is an honest reflection on my solo trip; of the wonder, terror and frustration I experienced when riding through the unforgiving emptiness of one of the world’s ‘last great wildernesses’.

Manu Grace

BOOK NOW

Manu Grace is a singer/ songwriter/ multi-instrumentalist from South Africa. Although hesitant to commit to a genre, her music can most accurately be described as Sensitive Pop — unguarded and groovy; appealing to both heart and feet alike.

With a family full of wild creatives, Manu Grace seems to have inherited what she calls, ‘the curse of feeling deeply’. With it, comes a fearlessness in reflection — allowing for her honest, intuitive style of writing.

Working closely with musicians/ producers Ross Dorkin and Robin Brink of Beatenberg, Manu released her debut EP ‘June’ via Cape Town Indie Label: KuduKudu Records in February 2019. Through the release of her EP, Manu was selected as Apple Music South Africa’s Favourite New Artist in March 2019. She has just returned to South Africa to tie up the recordings of the new batch she’s been working on with Dorkin and Brink in Italy and Berlin.

MUSIC VIDEO (filmed at home; the Southern Peninsula of Cape Town): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYErREuhX_E

Video Description:

‘Rein Her In’ speaks of the way in which social media affects the pace at which people are able to process their emotions. There’s always the chance of a surprise confrontation or reminder to pierce your boundaries and manipulate the natural unfolding of your healing process.

Often, in the aftermath of infidelity, one is torn between a higher, more reasonable perspective, and a baser reaction — expressing an entirely counter-intuitive sentiment, in which, in brief bursts, the other woman receives the blame.

The music video focuses on finding strength in solitude and solace (rather than threat) in sisterhood.

TouchWood is a Indie-Folk band from Cape Town, South Africa. The band’s fresh, unique sound and catchy, up-beat melodies have made them popular right from the start with their first official gig being a main stage slot at The Flamjangled Tea Party Festival 2012. The band has since gone on to play the majority of South Africa and Spain’s most prominent festivals such as Rocking The Daisies, Splashy Fen, Pirineos Sur, Etnosur and The Heinekin Jazz Festival of the Canary Islands.

TouchWood kicked off 2013 by composing an original song for the One
Billion Rising TV ad campaign directed by Diana Keam. They then released their
debut EP Land In The Sun in June 2013 to a sold out venue in Cape Town. 2013 also saw TouchWoods greatest achievement to date as they were selected from 100 local acts by SAMRO and Casa Africa to tour the Spanish summer music festival scene in July 2013 alongside Soweto band BCUC. Festival directors were impressed at the bands fresh and contemporary approach to old folk that incorporates Southern African rhythms as well as their interesting array of instruments and vocal harmonies. After returning from their tour, TouchWood was selected by Converse as one of the top ten up and coming artists in South Africa.

They took a hiatus for the past year when lead singer, Ruth, went to work for Amnesty International in Canada. They recently came together for a reunion show at Kirstenbosch Amphitheatre teaming up with Majozi.

A Salute to Depeche Mode presented by Music for the Masses

MUSIC FOR THE MASSES LOGO

BOOK NOW

What started out as a brief flight of fantasy and imagination three years ago has evolved into something quite special; a visual and audio feast of the highest calibre.

It is a known fact that Depeche Mode, because of their level of musical and production technicality, is not the easiest act to emulate. Music for the Masses strives fearlessly to capture the true essence of Depeche Mode with an audio and visual performance paying true homage to one of the greatest bands of all time.

Allow us to take you on a journey and spark up memories from a time where innovation and the reinvention of fashion were at their prime. A time when you could be anyone you wanted to be on the weekend with a little eyeliner and leather; when teased hair and long fringes were the order of the day, when Doc Martens was still an intern in the electronic halls of the New Wave sound.

Music for the Masses is the Perfect Party Band for your next Corporate Function Conference or Event

Who is Music for the Masses?

The band was formed by three “Brothers in Mode” namely:

Elton “Otis Vocal” Tuck – Having spent many years in bands as both a vocalist and drummer Elton brings an element of showmanship mixed with an element of rock theatrics to the bands performance. A lover of what Depeche Mode stood for and the ground breaking influence the band had played a major role in Elton’s music career. Through his journey Elton has recorded with a variety of artists from around the world. His fearless rock induced influence is evident in this frontman’s performance.  A recorded artist that has held a number one spot on Zone Radio (SA), Radio Caroline (UK) and Fame Music Radio (SA) with his collaborative work with Rebeka Rain and the band LIFE. In the past Elton has worked and recorded with British composer and musician Duncan Mackay (ex 10CC, Cockney Rebel and Kate Bush). Elton has also worked with Mick Evans of Melpro Studio’s in Australia where he recorded the song Coming Home with Rebeka Rain.

Sean “Styx” NunanSean started drumming at the age of 17 and turned professional in 1988. In 1990 Sean joined popular South African band Shifty Henry and stayed for the next 3 years. Thereafter Sean, together with two of his former band mates, formed Avalanche where he played for the next five years before moving to Cape Town where he went on to form the bands Almost Famous and the ever popular Absolutely Fabulous Duo.

Sean is a professional musician, a self-termed “Tech Junkie” and a Roland V- Drums Ambassador, making him the perfect member of Music for the Masses.  Sean is also an in demand session drummer and has performed on various albums and jingles. ‘ I think my strengths as a drummer are the fact that number one I grew up playing to a click track, which has helped me get a lot of regular studio work, and I am also passionate about all aspects of our art form.

Eric Mc Callaghan – To try and sum the multi-talented Eric M into a few words or even try to box his list of achievements is near impossible. Eric has held various number one hits with remixes of Depeche Mode in Europe for many years. A producer and song writer with an innate talent to mix international sounds into one glorious magical wonder. Signed to BMG Records Africa in 1996 saw him quickly produce and record anything from local rock and pop remixes to originals that went onto international playlists and compilations.

From the late 80s –

  • Kevin van Staden’s Communique
  • State of Mind
  • Casual Culture
  • Girl 2 Boys
  • Then performed solo as C4 for 10 years with various vocalists and dancers to promote his 150 CD releases.

Some of Eric’s accomplishments have been:

  • Xplicit” (under his Heatseeker alias) was #1 in South Africa for several months in 1999 and received the Best South African Dance Track award. It is released worldwide on more than 30 compilations.
  • “Reflections” received a South African Music Award Nomination in 2003.
  • “Touch Faith” is an official Depeche Mode remix of Personal Jesus, and was #1 in Belgium, 8 weeks on the sales charts and Ultratop 40 2007
  • “Woven” was #29 on the world DMC Trance Charts in 2008.
  • Paul Oakenfold played Eric’s “I’ll Wait For You” at a 911 benefit concert in New York 2001
  • John ‘00’ Flemming gave “Spinning” 4 ½ out of 5 in Mixmag 1998
  • DJ’ed in Pakistan, Belgium, Holland, UK and at Miami WMC 2011
  • Released on more than 150 CD compilations, albums and singles

Put these musicians on one stage and you will soon see why they are the three best musical tour guides to take you on your journey through the sounds and sights that is Music for the Masses – A Salute to Depeche Mode.

His debut single with Universal, Fire, was a major pop radio hit and his feel-good follow up single, Darling, endeared Majozi to the hearts of his soon-to-be loyal fans. He released his debut full length album, “Fire”, in March 2016 which includes the #1 single Breathing as well as the hit collaboration with Tresor, The Woods. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success featuring Deepak Chopra and Olivia Newton-John

Running time: 64 minutes

From 7pm for dinner. Film starts at 8pm

Based on the best-selling book by Deepak Chopra and featuring new music from Olivia Newton-John, the film presents Chopra’s seven simple yet profound principles.

Everyone has a purpose in life. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we fulfil our destiny and experience the exultation of our own spirit: the ultimate goal of goals. Life stories by some well-known personalities reflect some of the eternal truths with the same essential theme: only after they’d reached their lowest ebb (breast cancer for Newton-John, a car accident for Stewart, drug problems for Duke) were they able to tap into the power of their inner being and realise their full potential.

Well-produced, lovely cinematography, informative and satisfying, with Chopra being his usual charming self.
