BOOK NOW

Pink Floyd’s music, apart from one or two well-worn standards, is too complex and diverse to be easily recreated in a local context, so to set out to do so is quite audacious. A group of veteran Durban and Cape Town musicians with a reputation for audacity have taken up the gauntlet. The show has been causing a sensation, playing sold-out performances all over KZN, and is now coming to the fairest Cape. In The Flesh is a six-piece rock band, consisting of:

Keith Merrington – keyboards/vocals Neil Ford – bass Colin Eksteen – drums Steven Squier – guitar/vocals Ross Tapson – guitar/vocals Jess van der Merwe – Saxophone
The Show Must Go On

The show explores aspects of the Pink Floyd repertoire that haven’t been extensively covered, even by Pink Floyd themselves, so fans can expect to hear well-loved classics that they may
never have heard performed live before. The albums ‘Wish You Were Here’ and ‘Momentary Lapse of Reason’ inform the particular highlights of the evening.

Jimm Harrison Project

BOOK NOW

If you thought you have heard it all, you probably haven’t heard of the Jimm Harisson Project. Having released their first album titled Chapter One in March 2016, this group of musicians has gained momentum and is currently performing throughout South Africa. This Cape Town based band is sure to hit big stages and top the charts very soon.

The Jimm Harisson Project started off as a long term experiment combining several musical influences into an exciting collaboration. The Jimm Harisson Project was founded when Jimm Harisson was awarded a recording contract from BrightIdeasStudio.

Their first album was recorded in December 2014 and was finished early 2016. The band always emphasises perfection when it comes to their music and they pay extreme attention to detail when it comes to their performance.
The band started their album promotion with a faceless campaign where only music was used to promote their album launch.

The campaign incorporated the main themes of the first album, which was ‘masks’. “Masks hide our true identity, that’s why we’re revealing ours in order to motivate others to reveal theirs’”, Jimm Harisson Explains. The whole album tells the story of how Jimm Harrison Project revealed their own masks and through their music encourages others to reveal their own.

Louisa Steyn from Tygerburger writes “there is always something different to their shows”, so not only will their music take you on a majestical journey, their shows are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Sunset Sweatshop Karen .jpg

Introducing Sunset Sweatshop: Nicholas Forbes, Richard Dicks, Ian Heyns, Rossouw Wentzel, Victor Green

There’s a new kaleidoscope of creative criminals in town and they won’t only steal your ears but also your ability to stay still with their unique combination of killer keys, guitar coma-tomic riffs and bass and drums . These guys will get those dusty hips shaking again with their ‘bringing-sexy-back’ music.

Sunset Sweatshop is a five-piece indie, goema, reggae and even boeremusiek and marabi infused outfit all hailing from the northern suburbs of Cape Town and was formed in October 2016.

These new kids on the block are hitting the local scene up with their debut single ‘Move It’.

IMG-20170214-WA0019.jpg

Stream ‘Move It’ on: Soundcloud

‘Move It’ is the kind of track that reminds us why the world fell in love with SA music legends from the eighties such as Bright Blue, Tananas and Void in a time when music was the vehicle used to bring about change and the rebirth of a nation. Sunset Sweatshop possesses the kind of sound that makes you proud to be part of a place so rich and plentiful in musical culture.

Each member of Sunset Sweatshop consisting of Ian Heyns (Lead Vocals and Acoustic Guitar), Rossouw Wentzel (Lead & Rhythm Guitar), Victor Green (Drums), Nick Forbes (Keys and Guitar) and Richard Dicks (Bass Guitar), is equally talented in their instrument of choice. Everyone is constantly busy eating, breathing and living the magic that is music and letting it bleed through their fingers to create a sound and feel that is synonymous with the vibrant tastes and flavours of South Africa.

All the members have been active in the music scene, except for Ian (frontman) who is making his onstage debut, following years of operating behind the scenes as an exceptional songwriter. It’s certainly not an easy effort for those wishing to classify, label and box the group’s sound. They feed off a wide spectrum of influences and at the end of the day they have been able to create something with real authentic artistic flair.

The music created by this tenacious troupe has true grit, meaningful lyrics and  ‘move-it’ melodies; so catchy you’ll be humming it non-stop.

Their history is still to be written but this will be a book worth reading as they continue to roll with the punches and produce awesome tunes. Sit tight and enjoy this melodious ride!
