Anneli is a beloved South African singer and veteran of the music industry, having performed to critical acclaim both locally and abroad for the past 12 years. Growing up in Swellendam, Anneli started out singing in church, where her passion for music was ignited. Her vocal talent was discovered by Arnold van Zyl, then Vice-Rector of Research at the University of Stellenbosch, who offered her a full scholarship to study classical voice
at the Conservatoire.

In 2010 Anneli was headhunted to front the renowned gypsy jazz band, Manouche, which stretched her growing repertoire to jazz, klezmer, Southafrikaner and even rap. With Anneli at the helm, Manouche graced the stages of major music festivals, venues and events all over South Africa and received invitations to perform in Mozambique, the
Seychelles and Singapore.

Anneli has taken to the stage at the request of many notable figures, including the Rupert, Golding and Kerzner families. She’s shared stages with Karen Zoid, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Fokof Polisiekar, Albert Frost, Arno Carstens and Majozi. She was also invited to perform in Germany at the University of Chemnitz as a soloist.

Anneli currently performs in a guitar and voice duo with Philip Vermeulen, exploring the intersection between jazz and African music. They have shared stages with the likes of Gloria Bosman, PJ Powers and Lira, to name a few.

Anneli is known to bring audiences to a standstill within the first few bars of her music. Her velvety smooth voice soothes ears and hearts and her unique stage presence delights. The style and ease of Anneli’s music is perfect for any acoustic setting, whether corporate events, weddings, birthdays and markets
