Just before legendary South African comedian, Barry Hilton, leaves the country to host the Hong Kong International Comedy Festival, he will thrill audiences on local soil at Café Roux in Noordhoek on 20 October 2018.

With a third outlet of his signature Nou Gaan Ons Braai clothing range having just opened its doors, launching a family fun card game called SmartAsk and teaching business professionals the serious side of funny with his Talk Funny workshops, you might think Barry Hilton is taking some time off from his first love: stand-up comedy. You will also be very wrong.

Barry continues to enjoy one the most successful careers in SA stand-up history. He has been wowing audiences for a phenomenal 35 years! And is still criss-crossing this country and the world with his unique and larger-than-life approach to things we all have in common and a hilarious take on our quirks and differences.

Apart from being an absolute audience favourite, Barry is also known for his professionalism and dedication to good, clean comedy. These are just some of the reasons that saw him awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the South African Comics’ Choice Awards – voted for by his peers and colleagues in the industry.

He’s known for never going for the easy gags, cheap shots and lazy punch lines of dirty and vulgar comedy. If you’re lucky enough to remember one of the multitude of jokes that fly your way during one of his shows, you’ll be able to tell it to anybody from your boss to your gran.

This is comedy made up of one thing and one thing only: funny. No need for vulgarity, malice or personal attacks, but rather just a unique and entertaining view of the funny and fascinating aspects that make up a uniquely South African society – all presented in his trademark style that keeps an audience on the edge of their seats, constantly wanting more.

So make you sure you don’t’ miss this opportunity to see one of the very best comedians – in South Africa and the whole world – in action at Café Roux on 20 October.
