Brittany Dilkes is a young, multifaceted musician, having graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz studies at the University of Cape Town, majoring in Jazz voice. Growing up with a love for composing soulful songs, this has led to a number of performances at various venues in and around Cape Town. As a singer/songwriter/pianist, her versatile approach to blues and jazz has led her to perform not only as a solo act, but also in a duo, trio and quartet setup.
The Brittany Dilkes Band comprises of Brittany on keys and voice, Brydon Bolton on double bass, Jonny Blundell on guitar, and James van Minnen on percussion. This dynamic quartet plan to take you on a musical journey from places of nostalgia and memories, to foot tapping happiness.
Brydon Bolton is a renowned Cape Town bass player. He performs regularly in both the jazz and classical worlds as well as with the improv trio Benguela. He has performed extensively throughout South Africa and at many festivals abroad.
Jonny has played guitar with countless musicians in many bands around the world, including Fat City, Keep the Change and the Zub Zub Marauders. He is also very experienced with recording, composing and production.
The wonderfully talented James van Minnen completes the quartet with light, sensitive percussion. His love of blues, jazz and world music gives him the versatility to play a wide range of genres. His 15 years of performing experience has led him to perform in projects both locally and abroad including Ottoman Slap, Mean Black Mamba and Hot Water.
Together, as the Brittany Dilkes Band, these musicians will put on a smoking set that includes well-known blues covers, jazz repertoire from Diana Krall as well as the latest of Brittany’s original compositions. CDs will be on sale.
