Daena Weeks & Well Done Sun
BOOK NOW
Starting as an acoustic duo hailing from Port Elizabeth, front man Ha…nno took Well Done Sun through a number of different phases and concepts, together with various band members. Keegan Watkins, the other half of the initial duo, was a key member in developing and creating the concept, energy and style of the band.
In 2015, Brett Atkinson came on board playing an integral role as the bands bassist, guitarist, synth-player and co-producer. Together with Hanno and local musicians Tim Edwards and Mel Mwevi, the band recorded their full debut album, We Have Time, at Popsicle Studios in Cape Town. The album will be released later in 2016, preceded by several singles and an EP.
Inspriration is drawn from our experiences, beliefs and the people around us, says Hanno, who is also the singer and guitarist of the band. People are everything.
Further influences include The Kooks, Bombay Bicycle Club, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tame Impala, Jungle and MGMT.
As the band describes it, their music focuses on passive groove. The sentimental approach to song writing creeps into your soul through all the right places. Styles such as psych rock, funk, folk, reggae and jazz are groovily blurred together in a fusion of sound.
The band is buzzing to bring their unique artistry into a new space with their recent move to the Cape. Keep your ear to the ground to catch one their upcoming gigs around Cape Town.
