Jeri Silverman & Sean Koch

July 18, 2018 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
café Roux Cape Town

Delicate. Raw. Unapologetic. South African born singer-songwriter Jeri Silverman crafts soul-stirring melodies with a percussive folk pop edge. Trading mountains and seas for the skyscrapers of New York City, the concrete sidewalks provided a fertile ground for self-discovery and allowed her innate songwriting talent to flourish. She began writing deep into the heart of sleepless nights. Ploughing the depths of human experience — her songs mine the essence of desire, fear, and a longing to experience oneself fully in this life.

Her latest work, Dear Life, is an album about finding your way. It’s an ode to getting stuck in uncomfortable places, a prayer to unspoken desires, and a fight to discover the fire within. Released this month across all digital platforms, the album has received national airplay across the country.

The 12-track follow-up to Leaflike unleashes a bolder, more expressive tone that builds on the blend between live acoustic guitar and electronic soundscapes. With influences from artists such as Ani DiFranco, Bjork, Ben Howard and Fleetwood Mac, the album is an ethereal collection of songs that explore the interplay between darkness and light.

Sean is a musician and songwriter, born in the seaside village of Kommetjie. Sean Koch’s rootsy sound is an organic blend of warm, harmony rich vocals with fun-loving country and surf style rhythms.

He recently released an EP ‘Natural Projection’ with inspiration for his sound drawn from artists such as Ben Howard, Xavier Rudd, Angus Stone and Milky Chance.

“Its all about keeping things simple and appreciating the subtle more beautiful things in this life. “
