Orah & The Kites
————————–
Orah & The Kites are a melancholic indie/folk band based in Cape Town, South Africa.

The band started as a trio of best friends consisting of Ntokozo Mzimela (Keys, Vocals, Guitar), Teagyn Gracey (Saxophone & Vocals) and Jaimie De Klerk (Synth & Vocals) formed in April 2016. Now in 2018 the trio expanded and are now joined by Tristan De Beer (guitar & vocals) during acoustic sets. The group has played shows in and around the city at venues such as Obviously Armchair, The Gin Bar, The Waiting Room, Cafe Roux and Muizenbergs Concerts in The Park. Orah & The Kites had the immense honour of playing at the Garden State music festival launch in March at Centre for The Book alongside amazing local talent as well as international acts, Kyp Malone of Tv on The Radio, Dave Depper of Death Cab for Cutie and Laura Burhenn of The Mynabirds.

Their main musical influencers are Bon Iver, Radiohead, Hundred Waters, Sigur Ros and Ruby Gill. Other sources of influence come from the poetry of John Keats, Alfred Tennyson and philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer.

Jungle Book Birds
————————

Jungle Book Birds is an alternative music act with members Hezron Chetty (Violin and Vocals), CJ Duckitt (Bass, Keyboards and Backing Vocals), and Jeanré Leo (Drums and Backing Vocals). They are influenced by genres like Rock, Psychedelic, Spoken Word and Instrumental.
Jungle Book Birds seek to make good, authentic, honest music that is easily accessible.
Jungle Book Birds started off as ‘Hezron Chetty’ in late 2015, by mid 2016 the project changed its name to ‘Hezron Chetty and The ZugZwang’ to separate the solo project of Hezron Chetty. By early 2018 the band realised it had become a collaborative effort and decided to rebrand under the name Jungle Book Birds.
As a unit performing as ‘Hezron Chetty’ and ‘Hezron Chetty and The ZugZwang’, the band sold out on physical copies of their debut album in the first year and established themselves on the South African music scene by performing with many major acts. They were also recipients of the ConcertSA and Samro music mobility fund in 2018. Jungle Book Birds have completed the recording of their debut album, recorded and produced by Jandré Spangenberg, which will be released in March 2019.
