British singer and Rock & Rock Hall of Fame inductee, Cat Stevens, one of the most influential singer-songwriters of all time, captured the imagination of millions of fans with his passionate voice and soul-stirring lyrics during his quest for world peace. More than 40 million albums were sold during the decade of 1967 to 1977. 1977 also marked the turning point in his life, when he converted to Islam and changed his name to Yusuf Islam, abandoning his career as a pop star, following a near-death and life-changing experience, after which he dedicated himself to the Divine path and concentrated on education and humanitarian relief.

His debut album, “Matthew and Son”, and his first single,I Love My Dog”, catapulted Yusuf / Cat Stevens to fame in 1966, but in 1968, at the age of 19, he contracted tuberculosis and took a leave of absence from the music industry. It was during this introspective period that Yusuf / Cat Stevens penned his rich, personal, inspirational songs during a profound musical transformation with his signature sound and yielded many hits, like “Morning Has Broken”, “Peace Train”, “Moonshadow” and “Wild World”.

Two accolades bear testimony to Yusuf / Cat Stevens’ extraordinary contribution to humanity: On 10 November 2004 he was presented with a Man of Peace award and on 4 November 2005 he was awarded with an honorary doctorate for services to education and humanitarian relief.

Peace Train to a Wild World” is a nostalgic, memorable tribute to Nobel Peace prizewinner, megastar and multi-instrumentalist, Yusuf / Cat Stevens and not only highlights Yusuf’s / Cat Stevens’ haunting melodies and soulful lyrics, but also gives one a glimpse into the life of one of the world’s greatest folk-rock artists, from birth to current status as converted Muslim and humanitarian. The tribute features Werner Carstens, on lead guitar, mandolin, and backing vocals. Craig Stott on acoustic guitar and lead vocals has received standing ovations for his renditions of Yusuf / Cat Stevens’ hits, while, Charl Strutt and Gavin Young feature on bass and drums respectively. The group has enjoyed sold-out performances at various theatres and theatre supper venues in and around Cape Town and up country.
