The Sweet Resistance & Rubber Duc

December 19, 2017 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
cafe Roux Noordhoek

Resistance is futile when it comes to these rock n roll romantics. Just know that The Sweet Resistance are set to redefine South African music, blending epic alt-rock with compelling hints of electro-pop to craft melodic, arena worthy anthems. Their debut, Where There Is Hope, overflows with towering guitar hooks, driving percussion, shimmering synths and tender song writing. This brew would suffice for most bands, but The Sweet Resistance also come armed with the powerful voice of lead singer Tash. Her impassioned delivery lights the way through the dramatic song terrain and she will undoubtedly draw you in. Her rare and masterful guitar hooks combined with her intentional story telling is altogether extraordinary.

Live, the band promise to offer a sonic passage to a landscape of hope, determination, grace and inspiration. The songs are rhythmic, melodic anthems, plumbing the depths of life, love, opportunity and release.

The album is available for purchase on ITunes and across multiple world-‐wide digital download platforms.

Since TSR’s launch, their debut single FEEL hit the number 1 spot on the 5FM Indie Chart and spent over 3 months on the SA Top 30. TSR were included in the stellar SA band line up that supported the long-awaited PIXIES Tour of SA.  Looking at the incredible response from local media, TSR were certainly a highlight of the event, attend by over 16000 festival goers. Bruce Dennill of Participate had this to say about the band: The line-up prior to The Pixies arriving on stage could have held its own anywhere in the world: the Orianthi strut of Natasha Meister and the rest of The Sweet Resistance. The Sweet Resistance were the newest and least known of the outfits on the bill, but are clear future frontrunners, with a big, tight sound driven by Tash’s penetrating vocals and captivating guitar work.

TSR’s follow up single “Captivated” has just been released and is already making waves on local radio nationally. 5FM play listed “Captivated” in March and with its debut on the TOP10@10 POP Charts it went straight to number 1!

Rubber Duc burst onto the SA music scene in March 2014 when their first single hit the number 2 spot on the 5FM and ECR charts! AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT was inspired by the YouTube clip of Sweet Brown that went viral worldwide. The song is a satirical look at living in South Africa today and a humorous take on current issues… All the stuff we simply don’t have time for!

Expect a extraordinary show not to be missed by these two incredible bands!
