The Sweet Resistance

February 25, 2017 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
cafe Roux, Cape Town

Tash is a Canadian born and bred “Rocker Girl”, the daughter of a Swiss Father and a South African Mother. At age 18 she left London Ontario to reside in Cape Town, South Africa. 5 years later, after paying her dues in the local blues & cover music scene, Tash has taken to the main stage and introduced her new band, The Sweet Resistance. The band offers a sonic passage to a landscape of hope, determination, grace and inspiration. The band’s sound embodies the genres of alternative-pop-rock, very much in line with current listening trends.  The songs are rhythmic, melodic anthems, plumbing the depths of life, love, opportunity and release.

Tash’s powerful yet sensitive vocals will undoubtedly draw you in. Her rare ability to incorporate masterful guitar hooks combined with her intentional story telling is altogether extraordinary. After 8 months of behind the scenes song writing, TSR took to Heritage Sound Studios with renown engineer/producer, Brendyn “Rusti” Rossouw. The combination of band members Mike Vaughan and Gray Lowndes, along with co-producer Tristan Carmichael fulfilled the creative journey by emerging with a 10 track debut album titled, “Where There Is Hope”. The album is available for purchase on ITunes and across multiple world-wide digital download platforms.

The band immediately performed a 4-show residency at the House of Machines in Cape Town, performing every Friday night for the duration of October. Since TSR’s launch, their debut single FEEL has hit the number 1 spot on the 5FM Indie Chart and is currently at number 8 on the SA Top 30. Their single has been played and play listed on multiple stations across SA such as KFM, Mix FM, Hot91.9, PUKFM and more. 5FM rated “FEEL” as SA’s hottest track in its first week of its release.

The Sweet Resistance showcase extraordinary talent through a dynamic and inclusive live show making them a live act not to be missed.
