Werner Olckers of Wrestlerish – 21st of May (R80)

Werner Olckers is the front man of popular indie-rock band Wrestlerish – aTriple SAMA, Triple MK Award, Pendoring Award nominated and Loerie Award winning band from Gauteng and are currently signed to Sony Music South Africa. They have released three critically acclaimed albums and acknowledged as one of the Top 20 most important acts in SA music by The Sunday Times. They have just launched their third album “Greater Goods & Lesser Evils.”

“There’s something inexpressibly appealing about Werner Olckers’ piercing vocals. Every song the Wrestlerish frontman performs emanates with the sound of joyful guitar and is sugar-coated by Olcker’s perfect pitch.” Genevieve Viera, Rolling Stone

Joshua Grierson – 31st of May (R100)

Joshua launched his latest album at cafe Roux last year & he literally had us riddled with goosebumps.  With our mouths hanging open. His voice is haunting & his performance mesmerising. One of the greatest (and relatively unknown) talents in SA, we believe.  This review pretty much sums it up….“Grierson’s central gift…is performances so gripping the world could be falling down around you and you wouldn’t notice.” – Rolling Stone magazine South Africa

Simon & the Bande à Part – 5th of June (R80)

Simon & the Bande à Part are a trio playing original indie-folk. Their music has been described as foot-tapping red wine fireside poetry. Fronted by songwriter Simon van Gend, backed by Ross Campbell on drums and Eric Michot on base, the band will play a selection of songs off their four albums plus some brand new songs that Simon has recently written as part of his ”a song a week for a year” project. The band’s latest album ”Blinking & Breathing” was produced by acclaimed Australian producer Ian Pritchett whose credits include Angus & Julia Stone and The Beautiful Girls.

CODA – 6th of June (R80)

Fronted by powerful vocalist Zami Mdingi, CODA combines electric strings, violin & cello (by Galina Juritz & Carol Thorns) with saxophone (Judy Brown) & DJ (DJ LuvChild). Their music traverses different genres from Classically-inspired ballads to Electro-Swing, Dub Step, Reggae & Hip Hop.  Countries the world over have enjoyed their dynamic & varied performances. They will be launching their new album “Disclosure”.
